Service and Leadership Development Scholarship (New Students)

Initial eligibility

  • Scholarship application
  • Two (2) letters of recommendation
  • Demonstration of financial need as determined by the FAFSA or Financial Aid Departmental guidelines
  • Enrollment in a minimum of 7.5 credit hours
  • Students graduated prior to May 2007 must have proof of graduation on file
  • Students graduating high school in 2007 enrolled for July 2007 & September 2007 must have an interim high school transcript on file and must provide official proof of graduation within three weeks of graduation.

Scholarships are not deferrable. Students must maintain the minimum requirements for eligibility in order to receive the second disbursement. Students must attend the second semester directly following the first. Students withdrawing or not attending the second semester forfeit eligibility to the second disbursement. This scholarship is non-renewable. All applications will be considered and awarded via the scholarship committee. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Letters of recommendation must be written by someone other than a family member. Preferably, at least one letter should be from a teacher and the other from someone in the community. The letters should address the student’s academic ability, financial need and motivations leading to the intended field of study.

Application
Applications can be obtained from the Office of Admissions or the Office of Student Management. Please note, the student is responsible for confirming receipt and legibility of the completed scholarship package.

Awards
$1000-$3000 disbursed over two consecutive semesters (award amounts based upon enrollment)

To maintain eligibility for the second disbursement student must:

  • Register for 7.5 or more credits for 2nd semester
  • Achieve a 2.0 GPA in Harrington coursework
  • Meet with an advisor four (4) times during the semester
  • Document participation in a minimum of five (5) hours of
  • Harrington sponsored activities. Activities can include - service to student sponsored organizations/events, service to professional organizations or attendance at any event that fulfills the lab requirement for studio classes except attendance at Open Studio Lab
  • Participate in one financial literacy workshop during the term.

Submissions
Scholarship application materials are due no later than the end of the business day (5pm CST) on the specified due date. Materials may be submitted via postal mail, fax, or email. If sent by postal mail, the completed submission must be received no later than the stated deadline. On each submitted item, please indicate the student’s name, admissions contact and start date. Completed submissions should be addressed to:

Adult/Transfer Student Scholarship

Initial eligibility

  • Scholarship application
  • Two (2) letters of recommendation
  • Completion of essay of a minimum of 500 words (typed, double spaced) to answer the question, “Why are you attending Harrington College of Design? Why have you chosen this specific program?”
  • Enrollment in a minimum of 7.5 credit hours
  • Proof of Graduation prior to January 1, 2007 must be on file

Scholarships are not deferrable. Students must maintain the minimum requirements for eligibility in order to receive the second disbursement. Students withdrawing, not attending the second semester or not registering for 7.5 credit hours forfeit eligibility to the second disbursement. This scholarship is non-renewable.

The process of Interior Design employs creativity and graphic communication skills. Harrington College of Design's Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design Program is designed to develop these skills through problem-solving in two-dimensional and three-dimensional media. The student is challenged to develop critical thinking, conceptualization, and spatial visualization abilities. These skills can form the foundation for both hands-on and digital design and communication tools, which are integrated with an understanding of the interior environment in the design studio.......................................
