Interior Design Course Outline
 
The specialized associate degree program assists in preparing students for the design assistant level in the industry. Here are some of the courses offered as part of the 66.5 credit Associate of Applied Science Degree in Interior Design:

The B.F.A. degree program assists students in the first phase of preparation toward becoming a qualified, licensed professional. Here are some of the courses offered as part of the 130 credit Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Interior Design:
  • Business Practices

  • ADA & Building Codes
  • Interior Design Thesis

Course Spotlight: Take a closer look at Architectural Detailing & Construction and Interior Design Thesis.

DRF 219 Architectural Detailing & Construction
This course addresses the coordination of basic interior detailing, millwork, and cabinetry elements the general construction of spaces. Detailing is used as a primary design element integral to design development, technical drawings, specification and schedules using the concept developed during programming. Working with AutoCAD, students detail an interior using appropriate millwork for the concept and architecture.

DSN401 Interior Design Thesis
Continued design development of the previous semesters’ individualized project work, designed to incorporate all the skills and body of knowledge gained thus far. A complex, multi-storied, historic building is used to incorporate building codes, technology and design concepts.
