JOHN ROBERT WILTGEN DESIGN, INC. SPONSORS INTERIOR DESIGN COMPETITION FOR HARRINGTON COLLEGE OF DESIGN

Eco-friendly design competition provides learning opportunities for Chicago interior design students

For Immediate Release

CHICAGO, IL (June 20, 2007) – Harrington College of Design announced today that an eco-friendly interior design competition is scheduled for the fall 2007 semester.

The competition, sponsored by internationally-acclaimed designer, John Robert Wiltgen of John Robert Wiltgen Design, Inc., will provide students with real-life design experience collaborating with an interior designer, developers, and a client- the owner of a penthouse at Emerald Chicago.

Emerald features 212 homes in two eco-friendly, ultra-stylish 12-story towers at 123 Green St. in Chicago's West Loop. Drawing on its street name, Emerald is chic, inviting and environmentally responsible. Its striking 8,000 sq. ft. lobby (designed by the award-winning Wiltgen team) showcases sustainable products and furnishings. Occupancy is anticipated in early 2008.

"The home owner and I will present an overview to the Harrington students involved in the competition the beginning of the fall semester," said Wiltgen. "Harrington students have interned and been employed at our firm in the past, so we are confident that our Emerald homeowner will be pleased with the results."

"Our students thrive on real-world design problems – there is no better learning experience. We expect a lot from our students: meet the client's needs, provide a strong conceptual basis for the design, and present it with compelling visuals. This competition allows them to add the requirements of a real budget and schedule." stated Crandon Gustafson, Interior Design Department Chair at Harrington. "It is an honor to be selected for this competition."

A juried panel including Wiltgen and the homeowner will take place at the end of the semester and the top three designs will receive cash awards compliments of John Robert Wiltgen Design, Inc.
