FUTURE INTERIOR DESIGNERS WANTED AT HARRINGTON SEMINAR

For Immediate Release

Have a taste for interior design? Then taste this. The Harrington Institute of Interior Design presents "Taste of Interior Design," a three-day summer program for students and adults interested in interior design careers. It will be held August 20-22 at the Harrington Institute, located in the Fine Arts Building, 410 S. Michigan Ave.

The seminar, taught by Harrington faculty, provides an overview of the interior design profession. The first day includes classes on interior design training and career opportunities, a hands-on creative project and a question-answer-session with interior design students. The second day will feature a trip to Merchandise Mart showrooms to meet design professionals. On the third day, attendees will review a series of residential and commercial design project presentations.

"The "Taste of Interior Design" offers an ideal way to explore interior design before making a career choice,” says Patrick Comstock, president of Harrington. "It’s also a great opportunity to see showrooms and meet interior design professionals."

Registration for the "Taste of Interior Design" is $75 per person. Space is limited.

The Harrington Institute of Interior Design has long been recognized as one of the country's leading schools in the field. It is a four-year college that offers a bachelor of fine arts degree in interior design, an associate of applied science degree and a diploma program with flexible scheduling.

Founded in Chicago in 1931, the Harrington Institute seeks to foster an environment that maximizes students' intellectual and artistic potentials. The majority of the faculty are practicing interior design, architecture and fine art professionals. Harrington is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design, and the BFA program is accredited by the Foundation for Interior Designer Education Research. Harrington is also recognized by the Illinois Board of Higher Education.

The student is challenged to develop critical thinking, conceptualization, and spatial visualization abilities. These skills can form the foundation for both hands-on and digital design and communication tools, which are integrated with an understanding of the interior environment in the design studio.......................................
