HARRINGTON DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY STUDENT CHOSEN FOR PRESTIGIOUS NATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY RESOURCE GUIDE

For Immediate Release

(Chicago, IL - August 24, 2005) - - Jessica Sladek, a digital photography student at Harrington College of Design, was chosen as one of 15 students nation-wide to be featured in MAC-On-Campus, a resource guide for photography students, educators and faculty at accredited schools in the United States.

Sladek, of Antioch, who graduates from Harrington’s digital photography program in May, was chosen for her detailed architectural shot of an old barn that reflects the sky with clouds in the window. Her profile also will appear in the guide next to the photo. Harrington recognized Sladek’s accomplishment with a $100 cash prize.

"We had more than 500 entries," says Bill Gratton, national manager of educational markets for the MAC Group. "The quality of the images from each school was tremendous and the judges had a hard time selecting only 15 winners."

In 2004, the Harrington College of Design developed a digital photography program that teaches innovative techniques in commercial digital photography with an emphasis on design and architecture.

"This is the first major acknowledgement for Harrington’s Digital Photography program," says Dirk Fletcher, digital photography program director at Harrington. "We are extremely proud of Jessica and her photo."

Located at 200 W. Madison St., Harrington is a four-year college that offers flexible scheduling for a bachelor of fine arts degree in interior design, an associate of applied science degree in interior design or digital photography, a professional interior design diploma and a kitchen and bath certificate program.

Founded in Chicago in 1931, the school seeks to foster an environment that maximizes students’ intellectual and artistic potential. The majority of the faculty are practicing interior designers, architects, photographers and fine art professionals. Harrington College of Design is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools, the National Association of Schools of Art and Design, and the bachelor of fine arts in interior design program is accredited by the Foundation for Interior Designer Education Research (FIDER). Harrington is also recognized by the Illinois Board of Higher Education.

The student is challenged to develop critical thinking, conceptualization, and spatial visualization abilities. These skills can form the foundation for both hands-on and digital design and communication tools, which are integrated with an understanding of the interior environment in the design studio.......................................
