CHICAGO – May 16, 2006 - - Harrington College of Design invites design professionals and aspiring designers to Design is: Life, a free collaborative workshop from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 3 at Harrington College of Design, 200 W. Madison.
Design is: Life celebrates the launch of Harrington’s new Communication Design program, which is now enrolling students for the fall. The program is the first in Chicago to offer an analytical and collaborative approach to design education, grounded in an understanding of the human condition.
The interactive workshop, hosted by Erik Parks, president of Harrington, and Bradley L. Kisner, department chair of the communication design program, features accomplished communication design professionals who will provide a glimpse into their career paths, share samples of their work and discuss the future direction of communication design.
“There are a variety of possibilities available within the field of communication design, explains Kisner. Design: Is Life provides a collaborative snapshot for those interested in this dynamic industry.”
Presenters include Matthew Bremer, a creative director for Freeman, a company that produces exhibits for expositions, conventions and trade shows; Jason Edlen, a senior art director in the direct mail division with Trekk Cross-Media, a marketing, communication and promotional agency; Bob Reaven, a production designer who works in print, web and video-based design for Trekk Cross-Media; and Jack Gniadecki, a group creative director at Ambrosi and Associates.
