(Chicago, IL, January 20, 2006) - - Sue Kirkman, vice president of academics at Harrington College of Design, has been appointed to serve a one-year term on the National Council for Interior Design Qualifications (NCIDQ) education committee. NCIDQ is an organization of regulatory boards and regional associations in the United States and Canada whose mission is to protect the public by identifying those individuals who are competent to practice interior design.
Kirkman, of Munster, Indiana, will assist the committee by reviewing interior design course work requirements for applicants to become NCIDQ certified.

Kirkman has been an interior design educator for more than 20 years. She is a member of several prestigious interior design organizations such as the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), International Interior Design Association (IIDA), Interior Design Educators Council (IDEC), National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA), and the National Trust for Historic Preservation. She also participates in many of those organizations’ presentations and seminars.
Kirkman received a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Montana and a master’s of science degree in interior design from Indiana University. She passed the NCIDQ in 1989, is licensed in the State of Illinois and is a principal for Interior Design Consultants, a contract and residential interior design practice.
Located at 200 W. Madison St., Harrington College of Design is a four-year college that offers flexible scheduling for a bachelor of fine arts degree in interior design, an associate of applied science degree in interior design or digital photography, and a kitchen and bath certificate program.
