HARRINGTON COLLEGE OF DESIGN TO PRODUCE TABLEAU IMAGERY FOR LOOPTOPIA


First-Ever All-Night Cultural Spectacle of its Kind Comes to Chicago

CHICAGO, IL (May 1, 2007) –Harrington College of Design announced today that students and faculty will design, produce and photograph dreamscape tableau imagery of Looptopia participants on Friday May 11, 2007.

The Chicago Loop Alliance will host the first dusk ‘til dawn cultural event of its kind in the United States . Looptopia will showcase the artistic, musical and cultural offerings of Chicago 's Loop neighborhood.

The event is inspired by “White Night” events held in international locales such as Paris , Rome and Madrid . Programming will include live musical and theatrical performances, unique shopping and dining opportunities, indoor programs, outdoor exhibitions, architectural tours, artistic installations, engaging video projections and mesmerizing illumination.

Teams of Harrington students and faculty will hit the streets at 10:00p.m. Friday night equipped with props and digital photography equipment to create spontaneous “dreamscape” tableaus of people attending the event.

Images will be broadcast in a display window at the famed Louis Sullivan Building on the corner of Monroe and State. Looptopia participants will also be able to download images after the event at www.flickr.com.

The process of Interior Design employs creativity and graphic communication skills. Harrington College of Design's Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design Program is designed to develop these skills through problem-solving in two-dimensional and three-dimensional media. The student is challenged to develop critical thinking, conceptualization, and spatial visualization abilities. These skills can form the foundation for both hands-on and digital design and communication tools, which are integrated with an understanding of the interior environment in the design studio.......................................
