“THE ONE THING” PHOTOGRAPHY PROJECT BY CARRIE FINAZZO OPENS AT THE BARBARA MARKS GALLERY

Harrington College of Design student captures personal stories and images of Chicagoans

For Immediate Release

CHICAGO, IL (June 18, 2007) – If you suddenly had to walk away from all earthly possessions except for one thing, what would it be? The answers from 40 Chicagoans are captured in a photography project titled “The One Thing Project” by Carrie Finazzo, a digital photography student at Harrington College of Design.

The exhibition, displayed in the Barbara Marks Gallery at Harrington College of Design located at 200 West Madison in the Chicago loop, opens Sunday July 1, 2007 and runs through Friday August 3, 2007.

The concept came from Finazzo's decision to streamline her life after moving twice in one year. She asked herself, “If I walked away from the items I have acquired over the years what one thing would I want to make sure to take with me?”

Finazzo in turn posed this question to others. Intrigued by the answers, she recorded their personal stories and images on the subject matter.

The process of Interior Design employs creativity and graphic communication skills. Harrington College of Design's Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design Program is designed to develop these skills through problem-solving in two-dimensional and three-dimensional media. The student is challenged to develop critical thinking, conceptualization, and spatial visualization abilities. These skills can form the foundation for both hands-on and digital design and communication tools, which are integrated with an understanding of the interior environment in the design studio.......................................
